Key Issues

Onondaga County is in a once-in-100-years era of community change, and we must ensure that our foundation is strong to build on, starting with those who already call Onondaga County home. While there are a myriad of issues that must be addressed both now and in the near future, Chairwoman Nicole Watts is committed to the following in this current season:

  • SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING. Meaningfully addressing the housing crisis by facilitating development of safe, affordable housing and fostering connectivity for said housing to be located throughout Onondaga County

  • FOOD ACCESS. Ensuring that no person goes hungry in Onondaga County, particularly as SNAP benefits are drastically cut and food prices increase

  • SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE. Investing in our existing infrastructure as a County - buildings, parks, programs, and otherwise - to ensure sustainability for future generations

  • OUR ENVIRONMENT. Protecting our local environment to ensure that development is done responsibility and that Onondaga County has the incredible asset of accessible, clean water indefinitely

  • FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. Asking questions to ensure the transparency the public desires in the use of their tax dollars for our collective public good
